yes we can

On Tuesday we elected Barack Obama. It's a big deal. I voted Ron Paul this go around, and for some reason when I started reading articles about the big win on Wednesday, watching his speech, and thinking about this, I couldn't help but get choked up. I kind of feel like I'm watching the Olympics all over again, I kept crying whenenver they would tell the story of the Olympians when they were standing on the medal stand. I guess I get emotional because I feel that there's something really beautiful about people making it: sticking it to the man, and to challenges and doing that thing that seemed so unobtainable. I like it. Anyway, that's the most cheese I'll post for the day.

I'm relieved about Obama. I am also a little bit nervous, but I feel that I would be much more nervous if McCain had won. I think both are good men, and were both good candidates for the job. As my pastor said on Sunday, anyone who is willing to take on a job where they are willing to take on the problems of this country and the most stressful job in the world, they demand our respect and our prayers. It made me ashamed of some of the things I have said about past presidents. I'm working on not being a complainer, that is what is dividing us, and we need to be united. As a Christian, I believe our role in this whole thing is to encourage people to come together, to support our leaders, to pray, and help our nation heal. We should be leading the charge as peace makers, not complainers.
